Sculpture Couple Making Love
Title: Peace
This is a duet lifecast of a male/female couple making love. The round shape and her placement is reminiscent of the peace symbol. I looked it up and the peace symbol was created during a British nuclear disarmament effort as their icon. It was created by Gerald Holtom and represents the semaphore (flag signaling) position for N (Nuclear) and D (Disarmament).
What better symbol for peace than a couple together, creating for the future. Make love, not war. This can be hung upside down for a different perspective.
The lifecast was made in silicone and cast in urethane resin. I spent quite a bit of time finishing it in this form. I am quite pleased with it. This is my first contemporary like sculpture. I’m quite proud of it.
